Micromax Funbook: Review

Micromax has join the Android tablet club with its decently priced Ice Cream Sandwich sporting Funbook. Although Micromax Funbook sounds like a great deal on paper, is it worth it? Let us find out in this review. Hardware Like other low-cost tablets available in the market, Micromax Funbook comes with all plastic body with faux aluminium coated back. The tablet has been put together well. Measuring 12.2 x 19.2 centimetres the Micromax Funbook tablet is comfortable to hold with one hand.the hardware Android buttons seem unecessary, considering the on-screen virtual buttons introduced in Ice Cream Sandwich. The Funbook is powered by1.22GHz Cortex A8 processor with Dual Mali GPU whic seemed to be doing the job quiet well. The sound output (via the built in speaker) is not very satisfactory about and it is  advisable to invest in a good pair of headphones. Micromax Funbook comes with a volume rocker and power button on the right side, while the ports including 3.5mm hea...

Windows 8 Release Preview Overview

The Windows 8 Release Preview (here's the Windows 8 download ) has now been released. Windows 8 is the next version of Microsoft WindowsOperating Sytemfamily and a true successor of Windows 7.Windows 8 has been completely "reimagined from the chipset to the user experience" to connect more with the user. It features the Metro interface that is designed for touchscreen input similar to that in Windows Phone and on the Xbox 360. A version of Windows 8, called Windows RT , also adds support for the ARM processor architecture . Although the Windows 8 Release Preview is far from finished (with more changes to the desktop user interface still to come before RTM at the end of July), this is an operating system that has matured significantly since the Consumer Preview release in February. Windows 8 employ a new user interface Metro Style. The Metro will feature a new tile-based Start screen similar to the Windows Phone operating system. Each tile will represent an appli...

HTC One S review

HTC One S is a mid-range Android smartphone in HTC One family, smaller sibling to the company’s top-spec HTC One X. The HTC One S is a premium handset but with a slightly lower specification than the One X. We found it outclassed the flagship phone in a number of areas – read on to find out where. HTC One S: Design  The HTC One S has a smaller screen than the HTC One X at 4.3in rather than 4.7in. However, the body of the phone is only a few millimetres smaller. But it is a very thin and light phone at just 8.3mm and 120g. The two phones look similar from the front but have a different design on the rear. The One S has an aluminium chassis and a small plastic removable cover at the top that hides the Micro-SIM slot. The back is flat instead of curved but the One S still feels mostly comfortable in the hand. We like the stylish and sleek design – apart from two small elements. Firstly the removable cover is a tricky customer to remove; and the top edg...

Nokia Lumia 800 review

The  Nokia Lumia 800  is here, packing Windows Phone 7.5, an amazing screen and a touch-and-feel that has to be experienced to be believed. Looks and Design The device is slimmer than average Nokia devices at 12.1 mm and feels great in your hand. Its body is made of polycarbonate, which is a form of plastic. Rather than painting it in different colours, Nokia has coloured the casing itself so that even after months of rough usage it won't fade. The keys on the device are placed on the right side, which includes the volume rocker at the top followed by the power key that also controls the display and standby. The power key placement is odd since many device manufacturers place keys on top of the devices for easy access. The Nokia Lumia 800 is a highly crafted and neatly detailed smartphone that feels fantastic in the hand. We had reservations that a 3.7-inch screen would be too big but as long term Nokia N8 users, it pretty much shares the same footprint, so i...

Nokia 808 PureView review

The Nokia PureView 808 is a Symbian Belle based device and its key features is the monstrous 41 megapixel camera sensor which comes with various features and produces images in 5 megapixel resolution. The PureView technology uses pixel oversampling to condense information from seven pixels into one producing amazing image quality . The camera lets you snap 3MP, 5MP and 8MP photos and because they're saved in a new image format, you can zoom in those photos with little image quality degradation at any time after taking the photo. The Nokia 808 PureView has a 4-inch AMOLED display with the rather lowly resolution of 360 x 640 pixels. Spiritually succeeding the Nokia N8, it runs Nokia Belle (previously known as Symbian) and it's centered around a 1.3 GHz processor. While this smartphone might technically revolve around that processor, what's got the public's imagination is actually the never-before-seen 41MP multi aspect camera sensor. Capable of shooting full-r...
