Sony unveils Xperia Go and Xperia Acro S smartphones


Sony has announced two new devices which will join its Xperia NXT series of Android-based smartphones, these new devices include the Sony Xperia Go and the Sony Xperia Acro S. Sony has also mentioned that both the devices will be available globally in the third quarter of 2012.

First up is the Xperia Go or the Xperia advance as it will be known on the US market, will features a  3.5” Reality display of 480 x 320 pixel resolution. The Display will be water resistant which is made of a scratch proof mineral glass and supports wet finger tracking.
The device will be powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM and 8GB of built-in storage (4GB available for the user). It will sport a 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording. The Xperia GO will have IP67 certified dust and water proofing. It offers the same protection against water immersion as the Xperia acro, but ups the protection by being totally dust tight. It will include a 1350 mAh battery. The device will come pre-loaded with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but it should be upgradeable to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) later on. We expect it to be priced around Rs. 20,000 when launched in India.
The Xperia go will be available in black, white and yellow colors.

Xperia acro S

Next up is the Xperia Acro S, which is a much superior device than the former. The Acro S will feature a 4.3-inch HD  Reality display with 720p resolution. It will be powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and  an Adreno 220 GPU. There's 1 gig worth of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage (up to 11 GB user-accessible).

The Xperia Acro S will sports a 12MP Exmor R sensor camera on the back with a f/2.4 aperture . The Xperia Acro S will record 1080p Full HD video. A 720p 1.3MP camera is on the front. It is a PlayStation Suite certified device.

The display of the Xperia acro S is covered by a shatter-proof, scratch resistant glass and it supports the wet finger tracking technology. The Sony Xperia acro S covers the IP57 rating requirements for dust and water resistance.
 It includes a 1910 mAh battery, runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and we expect it to be priced around Rs. 34,000 when launched in India.
